As you know, Sukamade Beach is one of the turtle hatcheries in Banyuwangi. On this beach tourists can witness firsthand the process of laying eggs of these cute turtles. In addition to seeing the process of laying eggs, tourists also have the opportunity to see the process of releasing hatchlings into the sea (hatches: baby turtles).
This beach was founded by a Dutch national, around 1927. Sukamade Beach is located in the village of Rajegwesi, Pesanggaran District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. There are approximately 4 types of turtles found here, including the Green Turtle (Chelonia Mydas), Slengkrah Turtle (Lepidochelys Olivacea), Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys Imbricata), and Blimbing Turtle (Dermochelys Coriaceae). While the type most commonly found on Sukamade Beach is the Green Turtle.
We will pick you up at Juanda International Airport/your hotel/pickup address in Surabaya and drive about 3 or 4 hours to Bromo area. Arriving in the Bromo area you will see a row of houses whose slope reaches 70 degrees, because as we know that Bromo Tengger Semeru Village is located on a plateau.
in the morning to make preparations to Mount Penanjakan to enjoy the sunrise. At 03.00 a 4×4 Jeep will take you to the location of the sunrise view point (it will take about 1 hour). After enjoying the view of the sunrise, the tour guide will take you back to the jeep, then head to the Bromo parking area to enjoy the panoramic view of Bromo Crater.
Arriving at the parking area, the tour guide will take you on the climb to Mount Bromo. From the parking area to the starting point of the climb is about 500 meters, you can take it on foot or by renting a horse from the locals.
The price for renting a horse is 150,000 rupiah in two ways. Arriving at the starting point, you will start climbing. Medan from the starting point to the top of Mount Bromo, climb the stairs with 225 steps that you will go through.
At midnight or around 12.30 (depending on how far your hotel is) the Ijen Expedition team will pick you up at your hotel. So before that time, it’s best to prepare everything, warm clothes, and personal equipment.
We will arrive at the Ijen Parking Area at 00.30 while waiting for the counter to open, you can enjoy the cold of the Ijen Area. So, in the end you will walk 3 kilometers on an uphill and flat track. At kilometer 2 you can take a short break at the last post which is called the circle post.
After that, we will go up again to get ready to enjoy the sunrise and the beautiful turquoise color of the lake. At 06.00 we will return to the parking area to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, then take a short break before starting our next trip to Sukamade Beach.
The trip to Sukamade beach takes about 3 hours with a distance of approximately 90 kilometers. When you get there, you can still enjoy the sunset view. And in the afternoon you will be guided by local residents to find sea turtles that come ashore to lay their eggs. A female turtle lays more than a hundred eggs. She usually comes ashore around 7:30 p.m. and returns to sea around midnight.
